The Role

Responsibilities :

• Administer and support IBM i (AS/400) systems to ensure high availability and performance.
• Monitor storage utilization and perform capacity planning and storage allocation.
• Perform backup, recovery, and restore operations using BRMS and enterprise backup solutions.
• Install and apply PTFs, perform system upgrades, and execute IPL activities.
• Monitor system health, analyze performance and implement performance tuning recommendations.
• Troubleshoot hardware, storage, operating system and application-related issues.
• Manage user profiles, system security and access permissions.
• Support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) environments and participate in DR testing.
• Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive actions.
• Handle incident, problem, and change management activities in accordance with ITIL processes.
• Work with infrastructure, storage, network, and application teams to resolve complex technical issues.
• Maintain system documentation, operational procedures, and support knowledge base articles.
• Provide 24×7 production support and participate in on-call rotations as required.
• Ensure compliance with organizational security policies, backup standards, and service level agreements (SLAs).

Required Skills

• Strong experience with IBM i (AS/400) administration and support.
• Knowledge of IBM i / OS/400 system operations and maintenance.
• Experience with storage management, SAN, RAID, and LUN provisioning.
• Proficiency in backup and recovery using BRMS.
• Experience with PTF installation, IPL, and system upgrades.
• Ability to troubleshoot storage, hardware, operating system, and performance issues.
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) concepts.
• Familiarity with IBM Navigator for i and system monitoring tools.
• Understanding of TCP/IP networking and Fibre Channel.
• Experience with ServiceNow or other ITSM ticketing tools.
• Knowledge of ITIL Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
• Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with IBM FlashSystem, IBM DS8000, IBM Storwize, or IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC).
• Basic knowledge of AIX, Linux, or Windows Server administration.
• Experience with IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM).
• Knowledge of CL/CLLE scripting and SQL on IBM i.
• Experience with automation and system monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies and cloud infrastructure.
• IBM Certified System Administrator – IBM i certification.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
• Experience supporting enterprise production environments with 24×7 operations.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
