The Role

What you will do

• Backup & Recovery Operations: Manage and maintain enterprise-scale backup and recovery infrastructure utilizing IBM Spectrum Protect and/or Cohesity.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Actively monitor daily backup jobs, investigate and resolve failures, and ensure the successful completion of all scheduled backups within established windows.
• Disaster Recovery & Restores: Perform routine and critical data restorations, lead disaster recovery (DR) testing, and support overall business continuity requirements.
• Storage & Policy Management: Administer backup storage pools, define and manage retention policies, and optimize data replication, deduplication, and archival workflows.
• Security & Ransomware Protection: Implement and maintain robust ransomware protection controls and immutable backup configurations to safeguard corporate data.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with infrastructure, database, cloud, and application teams to align backup strategies and ensure strict compliance with corporate data recovery standards.
• Cloud Migration: Assist in designing and executing data migration strategies shifting legacy, on-premises infrastructure to public/private cloud environments.

Required Technical & Professional Expertise

• Experience: 7+ years of experience in system administration with a core focus on backup and recovery operations.
• OS Management: Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019 implementation, configuration, and management.
• Virtualization: Deep proficiency with VMware ESX/ESXi environments.
• Cloud Architecture: Solid understanding of public and private cloud management, specifically around cloud-native backup solutions and on-premise-to-cloud migration paths.

Preferred Technical & Professional Experience (Bonus)

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Platform Mastery: Specialized expertise in IBM Spectrum Protect (Storage Protect) and/or Cohesity ecosystems.
• Automation & IaC: Experience automating infrastructure tasks using Infrastructure as Code (IaaS/IaC) principles and tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, or scripting languages).
• Security & Compliance: Familiarity with Vulnerability Management processes to secure backup endpoints and infrastructure.
• Directory Services: Practical knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and federation services (ADFS) for identity and access management.
