You will partner with globally distributed engineering, product, and program teams to ensure that the ecosystem of services remains loosely coupled, independently scalable, and aligned with the needs of the business. We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in the MarTech and Business Insights domain. The ideal candidate will be passionate about transforming marketing data into actionable intelligence, partnering closely with stakeholders to understand reporting needs, and translating those into intuitive, visual solutions. This role requires someone who thrives at the intersection of technology and business, with the ability to design systems that are both technically robust and deeply aligned with marketing goals.We are seeking someone who combines technical excellence with strong communication and collaboration skills. You will own the integrity of the insights displayed, not just how they look, and play a key role in shaping Nike’s Paid & Owned Media and Business Insights platform as part of its digital transformation journey.

  • 5-7 years software development experience in Python or Java, Databricks, Hive, Spark, EMR and SQL
  • Comfortable writing complex queries, understanding joins, window functions, and aggregation logic
  • Data visualization fundamentals in marketing analytics, digital analytics, or customer data
  • Experience in using AI-powered solutions
  • Experience in microservices architecture, domain-driven design, and RESTful APIs using languages such as Node.js and Python
  • Experience using cloud services to build an integrated application (AWS - EC2, ECS, API gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB).
  • Experience with implementing CI/CD and leading teams with DevOps responsibilities of deploying and supporting the software in production
  • Experience with highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environments
  • Solid understanding of Scrum and Agile principles
  • Dedication to and hands-on experience in performing technical code reviews
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively connect with both business and technical teams
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, Information Systems, or a combination of relevant education, experience, and training
  • Nice-to-have experience with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, etc.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

You will build and deliver the technical runway for existing and new technological capabilities to support multiple mission-critical systems within the Paid and Owned Media space. You will rely on your understanding of scalable, highly available, and consistent distributed systems to design world-class solutions.

Design & Develop: Build, test, and maintain data pipelines that provide the functionality necessary to enable our BI efforts to measure MarTech performance.

  • Collaborate: Work closely with product managers and engineers to understand requirements and technical specifications, and deliver quality software.
  • Explain designs to teammates for alignment and approval
  • Ensure solutions are designed and developed using a scalable, highly resilient cloud-native architecture
  • Development: Design and implement large datasets and complex data pipelines using technologies like Python, Java, Databricks, Hive, and Spark
  • Participate in design reviews with peers to provide feedback
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices
  • Database Management: Develop databases, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Write unit tests and integration tests, and maintain high code-quality standards using tools such as Jest, Mocha, or similar.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and fix performance bottlenecks across the full stack, ensuring high availability and responsiveness.
  • CI/CD Integration: Integrate with and maintain continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for seamless software delivery.
  • Agile Methodologies: Participate in Agile processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, code reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
