  • Contribute and drive architectural decisions, ensuring we maintain a high bar on quality, reliability and observability of our services
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, scalability issues, and technical debt in existing systems
  • Participate in on-call rotations to monitor and respond to production incidents for Tier 1 critical services
  • Conduct code reviews for team members, ensuring code quality, security, and adherence to engineering standards

What we’re looking for

Technical Excellence

  • Strong background in software engineering, with a track record of contributing significantly to large, impactful projects in a complex production domain.
  • Experience with Java or similar OOP language.
  • Expert in your technical discipline, with the ability to design for long-term iteration and scale.
  • You own the availability, reliability and security of the systems you build following engineering best practices.
  • You make sensible trade-offs between speed, scalability and risk, and optimise for a predictable, regular cadence of delivery.

Product mindset and autonomy

  • Ability to work on ambiguous and complex problems
  • Own the technical roadmap and deliverables of your project end-to-end, embracing long-term ownership
  • Use data to define, prioritise and measure the success of the initiatives

Collaboration, Communication and Growth

  • Great communication skills and the ability to tailor communication style depending on the audience
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to shape requirements and priorities
  • Ability to mentor and coach other engineers
  • Actively share knowledge both within the team and squad
  • Regularly seek and provide feedback

Nice to have

  • Experience in pricing systems and/or payments, finance domains
  • Experience working with distributed SQL engines (e.g. Trino)
  • Ability to build software solutions, APIs, or platform tooling on top of big data pipelines and analytical engines
