Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money.
Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.
Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.
As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.
For everyone, everywhere.
More about our mission and what we offer.
The Assistant Experience team is building the AI-native interaction layer at Wise - the chat interface, component library, and conversational interaction patterns that every product team at Wise builds on. As a key design hire into this platform, you'll own the shared chat design system across Figma, web, iOS, and Android, and shape what the Wise Assistant looks and feels like for millions of customers across every surface it touches.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Owning the design and evolution of our shared chat design system - foundations, components, and composed patterns that span Figma, web, iOS, and Android, and that every Wise product team builds their assistant experiences on
- Designing the AI assistant experience end-to-end: entry points, conversation patterns, streaming states, and the moments where the model makes use of structured UI to communicate - keeping it consistent as it scales across the product
- Partnering closely with engineering and content design to define the contracts that govern what the assistant can say and how the design system renders it - this is design at the level of architecture, not just screen
- Working directly with partner product teams as they integrate the assistant into their domains, reviewing their UI proposals and ensuring they compose from shared building blocks rather than silently forking the system
- Prototyping in code to validate interaction patterns at the fidelity where AI-specific details - streaming, interruption, error recovery, latency states - actually become visible
- Setting and upholding the craft bar: component states, accessibility, micro-interactions, and the kind of precision that's invisible when right and obvious when wrong
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- A portfolio that demonstrates both atomic precision (tokens, variants, states) and systems-level thinking - you've contributed to the architecture of a design system
- Strong product design craft: you ship the states, the edge cases, and the accessibility - not just the happy path
- Experience designing AI or conversational products - you understand the constraints of streaming, uncertainty, and structured outputs and use them to inform better UX, not fight against them
- A track record of working closely with engineering, including defining component APIs and shipping things that are correct as well as beautiful
- The range to work across multiple platforms (web, iOS, Android) from one coherent system without letting each one fragment into its own thing
- Collaborate closely with designers across the organisation, understanding their needs and being flexible, while also being able to push back to create a unified experience
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL
- Experience prototyping in code - designers on this team often work directly in code, and the closer you are to it the faster you'll move
- Familiarity with a horizontal platform team model, where your customers are other product designers and engineers, not just end-users directly
- Experience designing within financial services or other regulated domains where compliance and security constraints shape what you can and can't put on screen
For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.
We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.
Inclusive teams help us live our values and make sure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.
