Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.
Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
Our flagship Sydney campus is uniquely Canva - an extension of our Surry Hills neighbourhood. It's a thoughtfully designed space with plenty of room to collaborate, focus, and connect.
This role is based in Sydney or Melbourne, and we're looking for someone who calls either home. Our hybrid way of working gives you the flexibility to work remotely, and to come together on campus for meaningful in-person collaboration and connection when it matters most. We trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.
This is a fixed-term contract running for 12 months.
What you'd be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Turning creative briefs into finished AI-generated short-form videos, end to end - choosing the right tools, iterating on prompts and outputs, and hitting the quality bar on time.
- Directing the "shoot" through prompting rather than a camera, bringing real composition, lighting, colour, motion and pacing craft to every piece.
- Building and maintaining your own library of prompt techniques, references and workflows that raise the bar on AI-generated video and can be shared with the craft team.
- Working within the quality, safety and brand standards set by the AI Photography & Videography Lead, and flagging risks around realism, representation, bias or copyright as they arise.
- Giving structured, specific feedback on AI video tools and model outputs that feeds the team's quality governance and helps improve them.
- Staying across the fast-moving AI video landscape (Higgsfield, Runway, Kling, Veo, Pika and more) and bringing the best techniques back into Canva's workflows.
You're probably a match if
- You bring deep visual storytelling craft - composition, lighting, colour, motion and pacing - likely from art direction, creative direction or content production.
- You’re a hands-on, cross-platform creator with experience using generative AI video tools such as Higgsfield, Runway, Kling, CapCut, Veo, Pika or Sora. You have strong prompt-engineering skills, a rapid iteration loop and a portfolio that demonstrates both.
- You’ve delivered high volumes of creative content to tight deadlines without compromising quality, and you can independently manage an end-to-end production pipeline from a brief.
- You have strong creative judgement and know when an AI-generated result is ready—and when it needs another pass.
- You give and receive specific, craft-focused feedback, and you raise risks and blockers early rather than trying to solve everything alone.
- You’re genuinely energised by AI-generated content and comfortable working with ambiguity and rapidly evolving tools.
- You're genuinely energised by AI-generated content and comfortable with ambiguity and constantly changing tools.
- Experience creating social-first video for platforms such as TikTok, Reels or Shorts is a bonus, as is familiarity with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, basic Python or prompt tooling.
