At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.
ABOUT THE ROLE :
You will work on critical business initiatives in the core database engine, bringing an AI-first approach to software development to accelerate roadmap cycles and deliver greater customer impact.
Your work will directly impact how developers and businesses build with data. You'll own features end-to-end while applying AI-native engineering practices across design, implementation, evaluation, deployment, measurement, and optimization.
You will thrive here if you are comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with short feedback loops, ambiguity, and a high bar for execution. We value people who take problems through completion, going beyond prototypes to deliver reliable, observable solutions with measurable outcomes.
AS A SOFTWARE ENGINEER AT SNOWFLAKE, YOU WILL:
- Own features end-to-end for Snowflake Database Engineering products, from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and production operations.
- Design and build reliable, scalable systems for complex database and data platform workloads, with a focus on performance, correctness, and operability.
- Lead the adoption of modern AI-driven development practices, using coding agents, automated verification, and continuous benchmarking to build higher-quality software at speed.
- Partner with product and infrastructure teams to translate customer and engineering problems into robust product capabilities and production-ready systems.
- Work with a highly experienced team of engineers to build and evolve core Snowflake products.
OUR IDEAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER WILL HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field. Master’s or higher degree preferred, but not required.
- 2+ years of software engineering experience building and operating complex production systems.
- Solid distributed systems fundamentals, with exposure to areas such as distributed execution, storage systems, concurrency, fault tolerance, performance optimization, or large-scale data processing.
- Strong hands-on experience with AI coding agents, including advanced use across the software development lifecycle and strong intuition for model strengths, failure modes, and limitations.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C++, Java, Go, Rust or Python.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and product teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Power user of modern coding agents who goes beyond adoption by systematically measuring their effectiveness, identifying failure modes, and improving their use in engineering workflows.
- Familiarity with database internals, including query languages, compilation, query optimization or execution, semantic layers, or large-scale storage and retrieval systems.
Every Snowflake employee is expected to follow the company’s confidentiality and security standards for handling sensitive data.
