The Role: We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to create scalable and highly reliable software systems for our production investment pipeline. Successful candidates display an aptitude for improving system availability, latency, performance, efficiency, and capacity measures while also participating in change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning processes. This role will collaborate closely with developers on designing scalable systems, improving release pro cesses, and reducing operational burden from development teams. Site reliability engineers at WorldQuant must be able to adapt to rapid changes in business and technological requirements as well as operate distributed systems in a performant manner.
What you’ll do:
- Enhance platform reliability by monitoring performance and setting relevant metrics.
- Own and manage CI/CD procedures, promoting best DevOps practices through standardized release processes.
- Containerize and scale services to fit business needs.
- Monitor and manage hardware estate as well as file system.
- Apply industry standard security practices.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on both new systems design and existing system enhancements.
- Pioneer efforts in new open-source technologies while also leveraging mature solutions.
- Be an active member of an agile engineering team who is continuously looking to improve team performance.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent job experience.
- Passion toward software engineering and interest in running real-world applications at scale.
- Mature, thoughtful, with the ability to operate in a collaborative, team-oriented culture
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and judgment with strong attention to detail
- Experience in Linux administration; fluent in Linux standard command line programs
- Familiarity with technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Grafana, Prometheus, Git.
- Working knowledge in various database and messaging technologies such as SQL, Redis, Kafka
- Understanding of Git and CI/CD concept
- Demonstrated experience using Python; understanding of Python idioms and limitations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; Fluency in the English language
- Candidates need not have prior experience in financial services.
Notes on schedule: Please note that this role will periodically require coverage until 21:00 Uruguay time to bridge the gap with our Asia hours coverage. We also require light weekend coverage (rotated globally) during daytime hours. We offer flexible work from home hours.
