Batch Robotics is revolutionizing how robots operate in factories — not through rigid programming or teaching by human demonstration, but with smart perception and AI intelligence. We are a team of 4 motivated people with +25 years of experience in industry and robotics. Our mission is to make robots smarter and more flexible, enabling batch-size-1 automation for surface treatment economically.

We are now looking for a Working Student / Werkstudent (m/f/d) to get hands-on with our robot systems. You will build, wire, and see hardware run in a real factory, working directly with our engineers and founders in our Munich lab.

Tasks

  • Build & Wire: Assemble our robot cells — mount cobots, cameras and sensors, wire control cabinets, crimp cables, solder, and get the system powered up and running.
  • Electronics & Measurement: Read and extend electrical schematics, select components, and debug with multimeter and oscilloscope until the signal is where it should be.
  • Test & Script: Run bring-up and end-of-line tests, document what fails, and write small Python tools to talk to sensors, log data and automate repetitive steps.
  • Prototype & Supply: Design and 3D-print mounts and adapters (we will teach you the CAD work), order components, and keep our lab and hardware stock in shape.

Requirements

  • Studies: Enrolled in Electrical Engineering / Elektrotechnik, Mechatronics, Robotics or a related field at a Munich university — and staying enrolled for at least 6 more months.
  • Hands-On by Nature: You build things outside of lectures — Formula Student, rocketry, a makerspace, RC models, a self-built PCB. You have actually held a soldering iron and a multimeter.
  • Electrical Fundamentals: Comfortable with schematics, wiring and basic measurement gear. 24 V industrial wiring, control cabinets or fieldbuses are a plus, not a requirement.
  • Programming Skills: You know your way around Linux and can write a Python script.
  • Availability & Mindset: ~20 h/week during the semester, ideally in full days, flexible in the breaks, on-site in Munich. Curious, reliable, and not scared by a system that does not work yet.

Benefits

  • Real Hardware, Real Factories: You work on the systems we ship to customers, not on a training project — and you can join us on a deployment to see them run on a factory floor.
  • Learn from Experts: Direct mentoring from founders and engineers with +25 years in industry and robotics — short feedback loops, no layers in between.
  • Ownership & Path Forward: Your own topics from day one, a natural route into a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis, and — if it fits both sides — a permanent role after your studies.
  • Environment & Pay: A modern, central workspace in Munich, a well-equipped lab, an international team (working language English), and €16–18/h depending on experience.

Want to shape the future of industrial robotics? Send us your CV — a cover letter is not required. Tell us in two sentences what you have built with your own hands. We reply quickly and the process is short: a 20-minute intro call, then a visit to our lab in Munich so you can see the systems and meet the team.
