Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Stripe will succeed at our mission of increasing the GDP of the internet only if we preserve Stripe users’ trust. To achieve their trust, the team is building authorization infrastructure and a platform that ensures proper authorization for users and services. We enforce access controls and provide access observability and policy governance. We collaborate with teams across Stripe to adopt our authorization platform to protect their resources, especially Stripe users’ data. Ultimately we ensure resources across Stripe are accessed securely and in compliance with policies, hence maintaining Stripe users’ trust.

What you’ll do

We’re looking for an engineer who is passionate about addressing tough problems in the authorization space. This role is critical, not only for Stripe, but for the future of the commercial internet.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain reliable, performant and scalable authorization infrastructure (e.g. libraries, frameworks, services).
  • Build comprehensive understanding of authorization needs of our users (e.g. product teams and infrastructure teams).
  • Build comprehensive, easy-to-use, and policy driven authorization solutions.
  • Collaborate with our users to adopt our authorization solutions to protect their resources by providing a great user experience.
  • Build access visibility and continuous policy governance to empower resource owners, legal and compliance to put risk of inappropriate access under control.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 2-5 years of professional hands-on software development experience
  • Has experience in the security domain
  • Has a curious and learning mindset, regardless of level or experience
  • Has empathy, strong communication skills and a deep respect for the power of collaboration
  • Works well cross-functionally and cross-team; and your co-workers at all levels trust you
  • Drives clear next steps when encountering ambiguous spaces without clear lines of ownership
  • Thinks creatively and holistically when solving problems
  • Prefers simple solutions and designs over complex ones, and have a good intuition for what is lasting and scalable.
  • High standards for code quality and a constructive attitude to help others raise the bar

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in the authorization domain
  • Experience with Go, Java or Ruby
