About the role
We're looking for a Senior Motion Designer to own motion graphics and GTM video output across Perplexity's social channels. Video is one of our most important channels for telling the Perplexity story, and we want someone whose primary focus is producing a steady stream of high-quality, on-brand motion work that performs.
This is a video-production-first role. You'll spend most of your time concepting, animating, and shipping GTM materials for social — fast, polished, and distinctly Perplexity. In a secondary capacity, you'll help define our motion principles and contribute to broader creative technologist work as our motion practice matures.
You'll report into the Brand/Creative Studio team and work closely with Brand, Growth, Comms, and the Producer to keep the pipeline moving.
What you'll do
- Own the creation of motion graphics and video content for our social channels — concepting, storyboarding, animating, and delivering GTM materials end-to-end
- Make video production your primary focus: a consistent, high-volume output of polished, on-brand motion work
- Bring ideas to life across 2D and (where relevant) 3D, from styleframes and animatics to final delivery
- Partner with Brand and Growth to turn launches and campaigns into motion that lands on social
- Contribute to Perplexity's motion principles, systems, and templates so motion scales consistently across the team (secondary focus)
- Contribute to broader creative technologist explorations — new tools, techniques, and AI-assisted workflows (secondary focus)
- Collaborate with the Producer on scoping, scheduling, and delivering work on time
What we're looking for
- Senior-level experience in motion graphics and animation, with video production as your core craft
- A strong portfolio of expressive motion work — especially social, campaign, and GTM content that demonstrates range and polish
- Deep command of animation fundamentals: timing, spacing, composition, visual rhythm, and design sensibility
- Expert proficiency in After Effects and the broader Adobe Creative Suite; comfort in Figma
- Ability to work fast, manage multiple deliverables, and iterate quickly in a high-output environment
- A strong sense of when motion adds clarity or emotion — and when a still is the better choice
Nice to have
- Experience developing motion principles, systems, or toolkits that scale across a team
- Comfort across 2D and 3D, plus compositing, post-production, and optimization for different social platforms
- Creative technologist instincts — building or experimenting with tools and AI-assisted motion workflows
- Graphic design fluency (layout, hierarchy, type) sufficient to build and adapt assets directly
