Why Harvey
At Harvey, we’re transforming how legal and professional services operate. By combining frontier agentic AI, an enterprise-grade platform, and deep domain expertise, we’re reshaping how critical knowledge work gets done for decades to come.
This is a rare chance to help build a generational company at a true inflection point. We have strong product-market fit and world-class investor support. We’re scaling fast and defining a new category in real time. The work is ambitious, the bar is high, and the opportunity for growth — personal, professional, and financial — is unmatched.
Our team moves fast, takes ownership, and is deeply committed to the mission — operating with intensity, staying close to our customers, and pushing each other for excellence. We live by three values: Decisiveness, Simplicity, and Job's Not Finished. We act quickly on clear judgment over perfect information, we believe simplicity is what scales, and we're never satisfied with where we are. If you want to do the best work of your career alongside people who share that drive, we'd love to build with you.
At Harvey, the future of professional services is being written today — and we’re just getting started.
Role Overview
We're looking for a Senior Manager, Product Design to lead two parts of Harvey: our Admin experience and our Platform design system team.
Admin is how firm leaders and innovation teams configure, govern, and scale Harvey inside their organizations, from workflow configuration to usage visibility. These champions are the main decision makers in whether Harvey succeeds at an account, and Admin is where they turn their investment into measurable return. The team also owns our knowledge platform and how legal connectors get integrated into Harvey. A general model can reason about law. But it can't reach a firm's precedent, its matter files, or the systems its lawyers work in every day. Making that context usable is the moat in legal AI, and design decides how much of it a lawyer can actually get to.
Platform is the spine of the design team. It defines how we work in an AI-native way and sets the standard every product team builds on. Most design systems are run as a service: product teams decide what to build, the system team supplies the parts. On an AI-native team, the system sets the craft bar instead of serving it, and its users aren't only designers. When anyone in EPD can generate an interface, the system is what keeps quality consistent and gets teams to a shipped implementation faster. Building that is one of the highest-leverage jobs at Harvey, and you'll shape the team around it. You'll own the system every team builds from and the AI tooling that changes what a designer can produce.
You'll report to the VP Design as a foundational member of the Design leadership team, with portfolio-wide impact on how our product, team, and culture scale. You'll set the operating bar for how we work, and lay foundations for the product that hold for years.
What You'll Do
Own Admin as a product
- Drive strategy and execution for the Admin platform in close partnership with Product and Engineering, rooted in how champions actually run Harvey inside their firms.
- Work directly with customers, research, and usage data to find where champions lose time or lose confidence, and design the workflow configuration, knowledge management, and visibility experiences that fix it.
- Tie your roadmap to customer outcomes: faster rollout, wider adoption, and evidence of ROI our champions can take to their own leadership.
Own the system, not the service
- Define Harvey's design system as a set of product decisions: what good looks like for AI-powered legal work, encoded as patterns product teams inherit rather than requests they submit.
- Set the craft bar across interaction, systems thinking, content design, and visual execution, and hold it as our surface area grows.
- Build the governance model that lets the system move fast without fragmenting: contribution paths, adoption expectations, and clear calls on when a team may deviate.
Own AI tooling for the design org
- Decide how Harvey's designers use AI: what tools we adopt, what we build ourselves, and what the new default workflow looks like from problem to prototype.
- Raise the floor and the ceiling. Make the whole team faster, and make it possible for a single designer to ship things that used to take a pod.
- Treat this as a live experiment with real rigor. Try things, measure them, kill what doesn't work, and share what does across EPD.
Build and lead the team
- Build, grow, and develop a team of high-craft ICs across systems, product, and prototyping from a small starting footprint.
- Own org design, resourcing, and prioritization across four surfaces with very different rhythms, including the conference deadlines that don't move.
- Give strategic, systems-level feedback on end-to-end flows, not just screens.
Lead across the org
- Partner with design, product, and engineering leaders to evolve how Harvey builds, and represent Platform in high-stakes conversations with executives and customers.
- Establish how we make design decisions in high-trust, high-stakes environments where clarity and accuracy are non-negotiable.
- Be a foundational member of the Design leadership team and help set the operating model the rest of the org runs on.
What You Have
- 8-10+ years in Product Design, with 5+ years directly managing product designers.
- Experience owning a design system at real scale, including the political work of getting it adopted.
- Experience designing and shipping AI-powered or highly technical products.
- A strong portfolio showing leadership of complex products from concept through launch, with clear impact on users and the business.
- Fluency with AI tooling in your own practice, and a real opinion about how it changes design work.
- Proven experience leading design strategy and execution alongside Product and Engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to define and ship high-quality experiences in complex, ambiguous problem spaces.
- Excellent judgment about when to go deep, when to delegate, and when to push.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders, internally and in front of customers.
- Deep commitment to growing people and raising the craft bar across a team.
- Comfort operating in fast-moving environments with evolving priorities.
- Empathy for users, teammates, and the realities of high-stakes professional work.
- A growth mindset, resilience, and a bias toward learning through doing.
- Strong people leadership instincts with a bias toward clarity, empathy, and accountability.
Compensation
$235,500 - $325,000 USD
