You are responsible for the operational management of our software development and ensure that our Backend and Frontend teams can deliver reliably and with clear focus. You manage planning, capacities, dependencies, and releases and keep the entire development process in view. You lead our Development Leads and development teams both functionally and disciplinarily. You establish clear responsibilities, develop team members, and ensure that problems and blockers are identified and resolved early. You coordinate teams and tickets throughout their full lifecycle, continuously improve our development and project processes, and ensure transparent and realistic planning for all relevant stakeholders. You are the central interface between Engineering and Product Management. Product owns product strategy, prioritization, and requirements; together with the Development Leads, you ensure these are translated into technically sound, realistically planned, and reliably delivered solutions. This is not a traditional IT project management role: you bring a strong technical background yourself and can make architecture and design decisions together with our Development Leads, assess technical risks, and evaluate different solution approaches. Alongside short-term delivery, you also keep long-term technical topics in view, including architecture, maintainability, security, technical debt, and the continuous improvement of our engineering standards. You actively drive our AI First Development Culture. This goes far beyond AI-assisted coding: you identify opportunities to integrate AI into research, technical conception, architecture, project planning, development, testing, reviews, debugging, documentation, and other development processes, and help the team use these tools effectively.

You have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in or around software development and have worked hands-on as a software developer yourself. You bring proven experience leading developers and development teams and have already held both functional and disciplinary leadership responsibility. You have experience managing software development projects: you have coordinated multiple developers and stakeholders, owned planning and timelines, managed dependencies, and guided releases through to delivery. You are technically deep enough to understand and shape architecture decisions, identify technical risks early, and discuss technical topics with experienced developers at eye level. You bring strong experience in at least one of our technology areas: Python-based backend development, ideally with Django / Django REST Framework or FastAPI, or modern frontend development with React and TypeScript. Experience with the other area is a plus. You understand modern SaaS architectures, REST APIs, relational databases, and the core challenges involved in developing, operating, and evolving complex web applications. You can balance product requirements, technical possibilities, and available resources and communicate decisions transparently and convincingly. You already use AI tools actively or are deeply engaged with how AI can change development and project processes. You evaluate new tools pragmatically, critically assess their output, and can establish successful workflows across the team. You communicate clearly and convincingly and are equally comfortable coordinating with Engineering, Product Management, and senior management. You bring a collaborative leadership style, strong organizational skills, and a genuine desire to shape and improve how we work. You are fluent in German and English. In addition to working from home, you value in-person exchange with colleagues and the sense of being part of a team.

At Athereon GRC, we develop smart software that advances companies, organizations, and institutions across the private sector, public sector, and social services in the areas of information security and compliance. As an agile and fast-growing company, we combine technological excellence with a genuine hands-on mentality – here, your contribution truly matters.

Bring your expertise and personality to our team – we're looking for people who are passionate about IT, think outside the box, and are eager to take on responsibility.

Our client portfolio ranges from global market leaders and hidden champions to innovative mid-sized companies across a wide variety of industries – so it's guaranteed never to get boring.
