About the Team
Industrial Compute is building the world's most advanced AI infrastructure. Working alongside our capital partners, engineering teams, and construction organizations, we design and deliver large-scale, mission-critical compute campuses that power the next generation of AI. Our Design organization brings together engineering, construction, and digital design to ensure facilities are coordinated, constructible, and optimized from the earliest planning phases through deployment.
About the Role
We are seeking a BIM Designer & Coordinator to support the planning and design of large-scale industrial and mission-critical facilities. In this role, you will develop, coordinate, and maintain multidisciplinary BIM models across Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, and Structural disciplines, enabling early design validation, constructability reviews, equipment planning, and cross-functional coordination.
You will partner closely with internal engineering teams, external design consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders to produce coordinated BIM deliverables that improve design quality, reduce project risk, and support efficient execution across Industrial Compute's global infrastructure portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain conceptual and schematic BIM models for large-scale industrial and MEP-intensive facilities.
- Coordinate BIM models across Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, and Structural disciplines.
- Create and maintain federated models used for design reviews, spatial coordination, constructability analysis, and clash detection.
- Model major building systems including equipment layouts, utility corridors, electrical rooms, mechanical rooms, structural framing, site infrastructure, and architectural constraints.
- Coordinate equipment clearances, maintenance access, routing zones, shafts, risers, utility entrances, and major MEP pathways.
- Translate engineering sketches, basis-of-design documents, equipment lists, one-line diagrams, and planning documentation into coordinated BIM models.
- Support early design activities including test-fit studies, routing evaluations, phasing plans, utility coordination, and design option analysis.
- Maintain BIM standards including model organization, file naming conventions, worksets, shared coordinates, view templates, and model health.
- Support multidisciplinary coordination using Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, Revizto, or similar collaboration platforms.
- Prepare model views, coordination packages, exports, and documentation for design reviews and stakeholder meetings.
- Support model-based quantity takeoffs, equipment tracking, asset information, room data, and design progress reporting.
- Review consultant and contractor BIM deliverables for quality, coordination, completeness, and compliance with project BIM standards.
- Help maintain digital design assets that support planning, design development, construction coordination, and operational handoff.
Discipline Focus Areas
Civil BIM Designer
- Develop site models including grading concepts, access roads, utility corridors, stormwater systems, underground duct banks, and civil infrastructure.
- Coordinate civil infrastructure with building footprints, substations, generators, cooling equipment, underground utilities, and site constraints.
- Experience with Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Revit Site, and utility modeling is preferred.
Electrical BIM Designer
- Develop conceptual and schematic models for substations, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, cable tray, busway, duct banks, grounding systems, and major power distribution infrastructure.
- Coordinate electrical equipment clearances, cable routing, service entrances, and access requirements with architectural, structural, mechanical, and civil disciplines.
- Experience with Revit Electrical, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and interpreting one-line diagrams is preferred.
Mechanical BIM Designer
- Develop models for mechanical equipment, chilled water systems, hydronic piping, airside systems, ductwork, pumps, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, heat exchangers, tanks, and central utility plants.
- Coordinate mechanical routing, maintenance access, pipe racks, structural supports, overhead zones, and major penetrations.
- Experience with Revit Mechanical, Navisworks, and industrial piping and duct coordination is preferred.
Architectural / Structural BIM Designer
- Develop architectural and structural models including building shells, floor plans, slabs, structural steel, foundations, equipment pads, platforms, stairs, and access areas.
- Coordinate architectural and structural constraints with MEP systems, utility entrances, equipment placement, and code-required clearances.
- Experience with Revit Architecture, Revit Structure, AutoCAD, and Navisworks is preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of BIM modeling, BIM coordination, drafting, or design technology experience.
- Experience developing 3D models using Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Inventor, SolidWorks, or comparable BIM/CAD platforms.
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary coordination for complex industrial, infrastructure, or building projects.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, equipment layouts, design narratives, diagrams, and consultant deliverables.
- Strong understanding of BIM standards, model organization, file management, and coordination workflows.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting large-scale industrial, data center, manufacturing, utility, or other mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Experience developing conceptual and schematic design models in addition to construction documentation.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary MEP coordination, equipment clearances, routing zones, and constructability considerations.
- Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, Navisworks, Revizto, Bluebeam, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Dynamo, Python, or Autodesk Platform Services.
- Experience supporting model automation, asset management, data extraction, quantity takeoffs, and design reporting.
- Experience coordinating with internal engineering organizations, external consultants, contractors, and owner representatives.
