The Director, Business Systems – PLM is an IT leadership role responsible for the strategy, delivery, and operational excellence of the enterprise PLM technology landscape. The role owns PLM platforms and related integrations, ensuring they reliably enable product development, engineering, manufacturing, and quality processes across the enterprise.

This position serves as the technology owner for PLM systems, working in close partnership with Engineering and Operations leadership to ensure business requirements are translated into scalable, secure, and standardized system solutions. The Director will focus on platforms, architecture, data integrity, integrations, governance, and service delivery while influencing process outcomes through strong system design and enablement.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead global IT teams responsible for PLM product management, application support, and platform administration.
  • Own the enterprise PLM platform, including system architecture, roadmap, upgrades, and full application lifecycle management.
  • Define and execute a multi‑year PLM technology roadmap, leading transformation initiatives to strengthen PLM‑enabled processes and product data.
  • Architect and maintain integrations between PLM and enterprise systems, including ERP, CAD, QMS, MES, and supply chain platforms.
  • Establish configuration management, master data governance, and technical controls to ensure data quality, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure PLM platforms meet enterprise requirements for security, availability, performance, and compliance.
  • Define global support models, SLAs, and escalation paths to ensure reliable, scalable operations.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Product teams to translate business requirements into system capabilities and promote process standardization through system design and data structures.
  • Manage system integrators, software vendors, and consulting partners to ensure delivery quality, accountability, and value realization.
  • Own PLM financial management, including budget planning, vendor contracts, and cost optimization.

REQUIRED

  • Expertise with Agile PLM, and leading PLM platforms such as PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter, Oracle, Dassault Enovia, including integration with ERP, CAD, QMS, and related enterprise applications.
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale, global PLM implementations, upgrades, or consolidations with hands-on understanding of system architecture, configurations, integrations, and data models.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • 15+ years of enterprise IT experience with 10+ years of direct PLM platform ownership as an IT system owner or technology leader.
  • Experience establishing IT governance, operating models, and global support structures for mission-critical systems.
  • Proven ability to lead global IT teams, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and communicate IT capabilities effectively to senior business leaders.
