Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.

Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.

As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.

For everyone, everywhere.

More about our mission and what we offer.

We're looking for an Acquiring Risk Fraud Analyst to join our Tallinn team. You'll have direct impact on Wise's mission by protecting our merchants and platform from fraud, while working in a fast-growing, disruptive environment.

Wise pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and manage their money with true multi-currency banking. Our operational team handles Acquiring chargebacks and works closely with our engineering and product teams.

As an Acquiring Risk Fraud Analyst, you'll support operational success and drive detection and prevention initiatives with long-lasting impact.

Your responsibilities:

Fraud Prevention and Risk Management:

  • Protect Wise merchants from fraud chargeback losses
  • Protect Wise from first-party merchant fraud
  • Proactively analyze merchant dispute trends and identify gaps in acquiring fraud prevention rulesets in pre-authorization and post-authorization flows
  • Create and optimize acquiring fraud rules to mitigate: Dispute rates (scheme compliance & fees)
  • Chargeback loss rates (product cost)
  • Merchant friction (rule precision)
  • Understand and implement machine learning scores within static fraud rules to improve rule precision and recall
  • Contribute to longer-term projects targeted at acquiring fraud reduction
  • Work with Acquiring Product and Engineering teams on risk engine improvements and optimizing the fraud customer journey from rule declines to rule alerts and dispute processing
  • Serve as escalation point for customer-facing Ops teams on all acquiring fraud prevention matters

Communication and Teamwork:

  • Explain and present your work and key ideas to your team and immediate stakeholders
  • Present fraud trend analysis and learnings clearly and concisely
  • Assist and support peers when needed

Incident Management:

  • Provide data and relevant insights to all stakeholders for incident management purposes
  • Escalate risks sitting outside of the Acquiring Fraud domain (or appetite) to external stakeholders

You have:

  • The right to work in Estonia and are based in or near Tallinn (we can't provide visa sponsorship or relocation support)
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills (other languages are a bonus)
  • Experience with SQL or similar coding language
  • Strong attention to detail and punctuality
  • The ability to make decisions in critical situations and multitask
  • Genuine enthusiasm for the FinCrime industry
  • Preferably, experience with FinCrime prevention strategy creation and management

You are:

  • Comfortable taking initiatives
  • Good with routine work while adapting to fast changes
  • Able to work independently and value good teamwork
  • Able to independently prioritise workflows (team-specific and external escalations), delivering quality work within agreed timelines
  • Able to think through analytical tasks and fully understand the impact of acquiring fraud rules on the product and customers
  • Comfortable with complexity and aware of key decision factors
  • Able to autonomously propose ideas to deflect acquiring fraud waves
  • Able to code independently and collaboratively, writing legible code usable by others
  • Able to autonomously test fraud rule conditions and troubleshoot code and risk engine issues
  • Comfortable learning new data analysis techniques and methods

Questions you should regularly ask yourself:

  • What could I do to magnify the impact of current detection strategies? How do I stop more fraud with similar prevention strategies?
  • What's lacking in our tools that would increase prevention effectiveness without increasing customer impact?
  • Where are we today versus where we need to be in 6-12 months? What Product/Scheme/Compliance changes will impact the Card Fraud domain and our prevention strategies?

If you're interested in the position, please apply by submitting your CV and cover letter by the 27th of August, 2026.

In your cover letter, please answer the following questions:

  • Do you think that customer experience should be considered as a part of the detection rule approval criteria? And why?
  • How do you think acquiring fraud detection and prevention impacts the overall company’s mission?

For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders  — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.

We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.

Inclusive teams help us live our values and make sure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.
