Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money.
Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.
Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.
As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.
For everyone, everywhere.
More about our mission and what we offer.
Banking Operations Managers make Wise’s banking partnerships operationally reliable, accountable and cost-efficient, so Wise can scale payments with lower risk and better customer outcomes.
This role will focus on some of Wise’s largest and most critical global banking partners across Swift, EUR and GBP payment flows. These partners sit at the heart of Wise’s money movement infrastructure, so the role has a direct impact on payment speed, reliability, customer experience, operational risk and cost.
You’ll sit between Payment Operations, Banking, Product, Engineering, Treasury, Finance, Legal, risk & controls teams, and our external banking partners. Your job is to turn partner-performance issues into clear action: understand what is broken, use data to size the impact, align the right internal owners, agree actions with the partner bank, and follow through until there is measurable improvement.
Here’s how you’ll contribute:
- Own operational relationships with key global banking partners, including regular performance reviews, escalations and action follow-up.
- Drive partner performance by monitoring speed, reliability, incidents, service level agreement (SLA) gaps, risk signals, fees and avoidable operational costs.
- Translate complex internal problems into partner improvement plans, making sure issues have owners, next steps, timelines, escalation paths and expected outcomes.
- Hold partner banks accountable for operational commitments, including SLA performance, incident resolution, responsiveness and long-term fixes.
- Support incident and post-incident corrective action follow-through for issues caused by or involving partner banks, making sure root causes are understood and repeated problems are addressed.
- Build operational visibility across Wise by improving shared partner records, documentation and reporting around partner performance and relationship management.
- Work with Banking, Finance, Legal, risk and controls, and banking governance teams on partner fees, losses, contract/SLA discussions, controls and regulatory expectations.
- Help regional and internal teams work more effectively with banking partners by sharing context, best practices and clear operating routines.
- You are placed in Tallinn, and have a right to work in Estonia. We won't be able to support with visa nor relocation for this role.
- You have 5+ years of experience in banking operations, payment operations, partner/vendor management, risk management, operational excellence or a similar field.
- You understand payment operations and banking partner relationships, ideally including global payment rails such as Swift, EUR or GBP payment routes.
- You are highly data-driven: you can investigate issues, form a clear hypothesis, size the impact and build an evidence-based case for action.
- You are strong at stakeholder management and can influence internal teams and external partners without direct authority.
- You are comfortable having difficult conversations and holding partners or internal teams accountable in a clear, constructive way.
- You can operate in ambiguity, prioritise across a broad portfolio and move work forward without waiting for perfect instructions.
- You communicate clearly and concisely, especially when translating complex operational issues for different audiences.
- You have a strong ownership mindset, good judgement under pressure and a practical approach to solving problems.
- You care about controls, documentation and operational resilience, especially where partner performance can affect customers, risk or customer money.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience working directly with banks, payment schemes, correspondent banking, Swift, SEPA, GBP payment schemes or high-volume payment infrastructure.
- Experience running operational reviews, quarterly business reviews or service reviews with banks, vendors or strategic B2B partners.
- Experience with SLA management, contract discussions, liability, fee reconciliation or cost recovery.
- Experience in Treasury Operations, liquidity, safeguarding, financial risk or operational risk.
- Experience with SQL, Looker, Tableau or other data tools.
- Experience working across global teams, time zones and senior stakeholder groups.
- Additional language skills relevant to global banking partner management.
