Gramin Dak Sevak is the largest of these by a wide margin and the one most people mean. Selection is a pure percentage cut-off from your Class 10 board result — no interview, no test, no weighting for anything else.

Why “no exam” does not mean “easier”

The GDS cut-off routinely lands in the nineties in competitive circles, because every applicant with strong board marks in a district is competing for the same handful of posts and nothing else can differentiate them. A candidate with 75% cannot compensate with preparation, interview skill or persistence, the way they could in an examined recruitment.

Read that as strategy rather than discouragement. If your board percentage is high, merit-based recruitment is the best-value application you will make all year. If it is not, an examined route like SSC or the railways is genuinely more winnable, because effort still moves the outcome.

How to verify a “direct recruitment” notice is real

This search attracts fraud more than almost any other in Indian job-hunting, and the pattern is consistent enough to check in a minute.

A genuine notice lives on a .gov.in or .nic.in domain, states the post, vacancy count and pay level, names a closing date, and charges either nothing or a small statutory fee paid through the official portal. A fraudulent one arrives by WhatsApp or Telegram, promises appointment without selection, and asks for a registration, training or security fee.

The single reliable rule: no legitimate government recruitment asks a candidate to pay for a job. If money is requested for anything other than a stated application fee on an official portal, it is a scam regardless of how the notice looks.

Go to the recruiter’s own site rather than an aggregator — indiapostgdsonline.gov.in for GDS, the state government portal for Anganwadi and contractual posts, and the district administration site for local intakes. Aggregators reprint notices late and sometimes after the closing date has passed.
