Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.
Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.
As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.
For everyone, everywhere.
More about our mission and what we offer.
About the role
As a Senior Atlassian Engineer (IC3) responsible for our Work Management team at Wise, you will serve as a key technical driver as this established group transitions out of a wider department to become its own dedicated function. Your focus will be on aligning Wise's business requirements with our Atlassian tech-stack to minimize friction and maximize productivity for internal users. You will work as part of a global team across Tallinn and Hyderabad, helping drive the technical roadmap, architectural integrity, and security of our integrations while delivering reliable solutions with speed and quality.
Why you should join us
- Scale & Impact: You’ll be responsible for systems that support thousands of global employees in a fast-growing, publicly-traded fintech.
- Autonomy: We don’t do micro-management. You’ll own complex technical paths to solve work management challenges across our ecosystem.
- Complex Problem Solving: From scaling global Atlassian instances to building bespoke integrations between Jira, Confluence, and our internal tools, the technical challenges are constant.
- Mission-Driven Culture: Join a company that values transparency, "customer is first" (even internal customers), and getting it done. We empower teams to make decisions and take ownership. We value clear outcomes, strong cross-functional partnerships and measurable impact. Read more about how we work here.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
- Technical Ownership: Drive and execute key technical initiatives on the team roadmap, addressing important technical debt, reliability, security, and scalability concerns.
- Architecture & Integration: Lead technical architectural reviews of integrations, document system designs, build API integrations, and identify areas for platform optimization.
- We are fully aware that it is uncommon for a candidate to have all skills required and we fully support everyone in learning new skills with us. So if you have some of those listed below and are eager to learn more we do want to hear from you!
- Data & Reporting: Design and build scalable project and work management workflows, optimizing connections, Atlassian integrations, and dashboard performance.
- Compliance & Security: Maintain platform integrity, ensuring Atlassian configurations and custom integrations adhere to data privacy and regulatory standards (DORA, SOX, and GDPR).
- Stakeholder Partnership: Partner with cross-functional engineering and operational teams to develop long-term strategy and communicate complex technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Engineering Excellence: Drive software engineering standards through detailed design documentation, automated testing, and active cross-site knowledge sharing across Tallinn and Hyderabad.
What we’re looking for (Must-have)
- Work Management Domain Expertise: Deep experience with the Atlassian tech stack (Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Atlassian Access) and a solid understanding of modern work management and collaboration ecosystems.
- Technical Background: Strong hands-on experience delivering technical roadmaps and making architecture/integration decisions (APIs, identity/SSO, data model, vendor integrations), as well as advanced skills in Atlassian administration, custom workflows, and reporting.
- Scripting & Software Engineering: Proficiency in modern scripting/programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Groovy) and experience using REST APIs and modern integration frameworks.
- Communicator with Stakeholder Mastery: Demonstrated success building partnerships across engineering, product, and operations with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Analytical Mindset: You use data to prioritize your work and measure the success and impact of your technical output.
- Ability to thrive in Ambiguity: You are comfortable navigating unclear requirements and shifting priorities. You can build structure out of chaos and make pragmatic decisions even when all the facts aren't yet available.
Nice to have
- Fintech Experience: Experience working in a regulated financial environment with data privacy and audit requirements (DORA, SOX, and GDPR).
- System Migration Experience: Experience with major system implementations or migrations (e.g., Atlassian cloud migrations or instance consolidations).
- Atlassian Developer Ecosystem: Experience building custom apps or extensions using Atlassian Forge.
- Agile Methodology: Proficiency or certification in Agile methodologies.

We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.
