Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money.

Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.

Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.

As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.

For everyone, everywhere.

More about our mission and what we offer.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our Platform Integrations APAC team, where you'll help expand and maintain direct integrations with payment systems and partners across the region.

What is the Platform Integrations APAC (PI-APAC) team?

The Platform Integrations squad sits within the Platform tribe, which designs, builds and operates the foundational direct integration infrastructure that power the product that moves billions of dollars every month. The Platform Integrations APAC team within PI leads the direct integrations in the APAC region while also supporting integrations all over the world.

Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the Team?

  • Design, implement and maintain integrations between Wise and complex financial systems.
  • Develop and design scalable and repeatable architecture with complex regulatory requirements.
  • Analyse infrastructure to determine inefficiencies and problems, and create automation and optimisation.
  • Collaborate with our larger platform engineering team and alongside product engineering on globally impactful projects.
  • Communicate with various stakeholders throughout Wise, plan roadmaps with your team, and work through challenges to determine scope and realistic delivery.
  • Work with Leads and Engineers to influence the direction and change current technology implementations, as well as advocate for excellence with third parties.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Work in a modern, cloud heavy environment where remote connectivity is a staple of our tech ecosystem
  • Choose your path to impact - we believe people and teams are most empowered when they can act autonomously. So rather than telling you what to do, you’ll work with your team to create a vision of your own. Of course, you can always gather feedback from smart, curious people across Wise but you’ll have the freedom to make your own calls
  • Grow as an engineer - understand what problems the business needs to solve and why, then proactively resolve them. We shy away from micro management
  • Approach new challenges with the freedom to develop novel and customised solutions
  • Be part of our mission to make money without borders the new normal

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals and experience with supporting complex deployments - TCP/IP, routing and switching, traffic load-balancing/ECMP, configuring firewalls,  IPSEC, GRE, security policies, Network ACLs, complex routing with BGP
  • Experience in SRE and Network automation - IaaC, Python, Ansible, Netconf, CI/CD, telemetry
  • Excellent candidates would have JNCIS/CCNP-level knowledge and familiarity with networking on Linux for non-trivial tasks (e.g: running routing protocols on Linux, IPSec tunnels). Strong candidates will also have hands-on-experience with cloud networking concepts, preferably with AWS (e.g. VPCs, transit gateways, direct-connect, VPC peering). We welcome candidates who aspire to this level of knowledge if they don’t yet have it.
  • Experience in developing and documenting network designs
  • Ability to translate business requirements into explainable technical solutions for internal and external stakeholders
  • Leading technical projects or small team of engineers would be a great plus

The following is a list of some of the technologies and vendors we use. It is not an exclusive list nor do we expect you to know everything. But it gives a flavour.

  • AWS Networking: VPC, VGW, Transit-GW, Direct-Connect, VPC Peering, Cloud WAN
  • VPNs (we use IPSec heavily)
  • Vendors: Cisco, Juniper and Checkpoints (both Physical & Cloud version)
  • L2 Switching
  • Routing: BGP
  • ISP Peering, DataCenter integrations, cross-connects
  • IaaC: Terraform, Ansible, Netconf, Python
  • Java Microservices on Kubernetes (Software development experience is nice to have but not essential)
  • Git, with Github

About You

  • You’re a self starter who can run with projects
  • Reliability and scalability are paramount in your solutions
  • Security and privacy by design mindset
  • You think about risks and compliance
  • You enjoy looking for where you can have impact and upset the norm
  • You’re happy working in a flat organisation structure
  • Technical influencer capable of promoting architectural patterns to internal and external stakeholders
  • You are comfortable facing new challenges and creating novel and customised solutions
  • You’re collaborative, charismatic and have the ability to tailor communication to the audience - both to technical and non-technical people as needed.
  • Effective communication between cross-team stakeholders, peers and leads is key

For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders  — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.

We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.

Inclusive teams help us live our values and make sure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.
