Senior Vice President (SVP) – C14 role, is strategic leadership role within the Real Estate & Structured Credit Underwriting (RESCU) team, responsible for administering a large portfolio of Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) securitization transactions. Candidate should be forward-thinking, strategic professional who stays at the forefront of industry developments and actively shapes directional credit strategies. This role requires applying advanced market insights to the underwriting of private as well as public transactions, focusing on ABS credit facilities.

This position demands extensive product knowledge, deep corporate credit expertise, sharp commercial acumen, and a rigorous approach to evaluating complex legal documentation. Operating with a high degree of discretion and sound judgment, the candidate significantly influences the overall effectiveness of the Institutional Credit Management (ICM) organization. Candidate should successfully manage complex deliverables and tight timelines while maintaining strict adherence to internal policies and regulatory compliance. Additionally, the role involves providing strategic counsel on technology optimization and operational efficiency initiatives. They should be able to independently lead thoughtful conversations with all the partners.

In this role, you’re expected to:

  • Manage a diverse and complex portfolio of securitization transactions within the ABS asset class, including auto loans, equipment loans, credit cards, unsecured consumer loans, etc.
  • Maintain end-to-end ownership of a robust, consistent, and high-quality credit underwriting process across the ABS portfolio.
  • Leverage a deep understanding of cash flow modeling and complex structural mechanics inherent to ABS portfolio.
  • Ensure rigorous credit analysis of the assigned ABS portfolio, maintaining alignment with industry-leading practices and full compliance with internal risk policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Partner with banking, risk & analytics team for both new and existing clients, taking ultimate ownership of sound, risk-mitigated credit decisions.
  • Conduct detailed risk analyses by thoroughly reviewing transaction structures, term sheets, and complex legal/deal documentation to ensure all risk and business points are robustly covered.
  • Lead periodic portfolio monitoring and conduct comprehensive credit reviews to proactively identify, mitigate, and manage emerging credit risks.
  • Participate in due diligence and author detailed, high-quality written credit memorandums for periodic monitoring and annual reviews featuring in-depth analyses of business terms, structural elements, transaction strengths, risk factors, asset types, and compliance with underwriting guidelines to support final credit recommendations to Risk.
  • Oversee complex credit approvals, assigned risk ratings, and annual reviews, ensuring the absolute accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all credit files.
  • Maintain organized credit files for internal credit, regulatory, and compliance purposes, ensuring strict adherence to Wholesale Credit Risk (WCR) policies and processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of analysts, fostering a culture of high-quality credit analysis, timely delivery, and strong governance.
  • Maintain open, transparent, and proactive communication with internal and external stakeholders, managing relationships effectively across Origination, Independent Risk, and client teams.
  • Drive operational efficiency and process improvement by leveraging automation, technical solutions, and modern data tools.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in the structured finance and ABS markets, evaluating and communicating their potential impact on the portfolio.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • MBA, Chartered Accountant (CA), CFA, or an equivalent advanced professional degree.
  • 13+ years of experience in credit underwriting, portfolio management, or structured product roles (with a primary focus on ABS) within a leading financial institution, rating agency, or asset management firm.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing junior professionals and building high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities to synthesize, prioritize, and validate complex financial and qualitative data from multiple sources.
  • Deep knowledge of ABS products with comprehensive understanding of legal loan documentation, funding mechanics, deal structures, and funds flows.
  • A creative and strategic thinker with a proven ability to apply structured, analytical approaches to complex problem-solving.
  • Outstanding organizational and prioritization skills, with meticulous attention to detail and a proven track record of delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, self-motivated professional capable of working autonomously while collaborating seamlessly within a global team structure.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction, negotiation, and relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
