Comand AI's mission is to build next-generation C2 software with real users in real deployments in the field. We are fully indexed on the success of every single user, which means the product you ship supports live defence operations, not a benchmark.
You'd join the engineering team to own features end to end, with a strong lean toward the interfaces and workflows clients interact with directly. This is a product engineering role. Unlike our Forward Deployed Engineers, you are not embedded with clients or responsible for running deployments in the field. You turn operational needs and field feedback into a durable core product.
What this looks like in practice:
- Own end-to-end features on Prevail, our operational planning platform, from scoping and interaction choices through backend implementation and production
- Spend significant time on the front end, building clear, reliable workflows for users working with complex information under pressure
- Solve real geospatial problems: move data between backend and frontend through tile servers and use PostGIS for demanding spatial queries
- Build and harden ML and LLM workflow orchestration, including retries, queueing, and long-running jobs with LangGraph and LangChain
- Design for on-prem and appliance deployment, where hardware, connectivity, and resource constraints matter as much as cloud scalability
- Work closely with product, design, and forward-deployed teams to turn user signal into features that work across clients
Who We're Looking For
We filter hardest on mission drive, low ego, attention to detail, and first-principles problem solving. We want builders who can move across the stack while keeping the user-facing experience sharp.
Must-have:
- Strong full-stack production experience, with genuine comfort owning both interfaces and backend systems
- Solid TypeScript and React, plus Python experience or the ability to become productive quickly with FastAPI
- A track record of taking features from an ambiguous problem through release and iteration
- Product judgement and attention to detail, especially in workflows used directly by customers
- Comfort deciding what to build now, what to make durable, and what to leave out
- EU or UK citizenship (contractual requirement tied to our defence contracts)
Nice to have:
- Experience with PostGIS, GIS, mapping, or other geospatial systems
- Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, or multi-step ML and LLM workflows
- Experience deploying software on-prem, offline, or as an appliance
- Experience with front-end performance and data-dense interfaces
- Prior work in defence, government, or dual-use technology
What's In It For You
- A top 0.1% European compensation package, including base salary and equity
- Paris or London based
- End-to-end ownership of product used in real operational environments
- No regular client-site deployment rotation; occasional user conversations and demos keep you close to the problem
The Process
- Talent screening: 30 min, online. We cover your background, motivation, and the products you have owned end to end.
- Technical interview: 60 min, online. We assess coding, product judgement, and how you reason through an unfamiliar full-stack problem.
- Onsite in Paris: half day. You see the product, present a past project, and work through system design and re-engineering exercises on a realistic codebase.
- Roundtable: hiring committee reviews the full set of evidence and makes the final decision.
