Comand AI's mission is to build next-generation C2 software with real users in real deployments in the field. We are fully indexed on the success of every single user, which means even an early concept has to make a complex operational idea clear and credible.
The BD Product Designer turns a promising customer conversation into something people can see, use, and react to quickly. This role is distinct from core product design. Core product designers go deep on durable product experiences; you help the business development team make a future capability tangible, then feed what you learn back into product.
What this looks like in practice:
- Turn an emerging customer need into a convincing prototype in days, even when the original brief is incomplete or contradictory
- Choose the fastest useful medium for the problem: a polished Figma prototype, an AI-assisted coded mock-up, an interactive concept, or a demo video
- Bring real design craft to rapid work so every prototype feels credible in front of senior defence and government stakeholders
- Work closely with business development, product design, product, and forward-deployed teams to understand the opportunity and define what the demonstration needs to prove
- Make confident decisions under pressure, balancing the needs of a specific conversation with the patterns and principles of the core product
- Capture what each prototype teaches us, so strong commercial signals can shape future product decisions
Who We're Looking For
We filter hardest on design craft, speed, judgement, low ego, and comfort with ambiguity. This role suits someone who can make a strong call with incomplete information and refine it quickly when new evidence arrives.
Must-have:
- A portfolio showing high-quality interaction and visual design across complex digital products
- Experience taking ambiguous problems from an initial conversation to a prototype that helps people make a decision
- Strong command of modern product design and prototyping tools
- Speed without sloppiness: you can reuse an existing pattern when it is the right trade-off and create a new one when the idea demands it
- Clear communication with technical, commercial, and non-technical stakeholders
- Resilience when an important demo arrives on short notice
- EU or UK citizenship (contractual requirement tied to our defence contracts)
Nice to have:
- Comfort building prototypes in code, including with AI-assisted development tools
- Experience designing B2B, enterprise, or technically complex software
- Experience with mapping, geospatial interfaces, or data-dense operational workflows
- Motion design or demo-video production skills
- Prior work in defence, government, or dual-use technology
What's In It For You
- A top 0.1% European compensation package, including base salary and equity
- Paris or London based
- Work that goes directly in front of prospective customers and can influence what gets built next
- A clear mandate to experiment across design, code, and storytelling
The Process
- Talent screening: 30 min, online. We cover your background, motivations, and the kind of problems you do your best work on.
- Portfolio review: 60 min, online. You walk us through the decisions, constraints, and outcomes behind selected work.
- Onsite in Paris: half day. You see the product, meet the team, and complete a rapid prototyping exercise based on an ambiguous, time-bound brief.
- Roundtable: hiring committee reviews the full set of evidence and makes the final decision.
