About Us
Higharc is a VC-backed startup that is changing how new homes are designed and built. Join a founding team who’ve shipped products for Autodesk, Electronic Arts, Nike, and Apple. We have raised over $175M with support from top-notch venture capital firms and more than 18 strategic investors—industry leaders in construction, building products manufacturing, and distribution.
Higharc is hiring an Engineering Manager with a strong computational geometry and CAD background to lead one of our two Building Generation (BDG) teams — the engineers who own the generative model of the home and the platform we're building around it. The role reports to the Director of Engineering and will build out our first team in Europe.
What You'll Do
The BDG platform is the generative model at the core of Higharc — a parametric system that takes architectural intent and produces fully-resolved 2D and 3D buildable geometry, feeding design, documentation, estimation, and manufacturing. You'll lead planning and delivery across the model, the geometry pipeline, and the APIs we're building around it so the rest of Higharc (and eventually external partners) can build on top.
There's real computational geometry talent in Europe, and the timezone gap means your team needs to operate with genuine autonomy. You'll lead that build-out — developing the engineers you inherit, attracting strong people in the region, and keeping the work coherent with what the other BDG team is doing in North America.
Expect to:
- Lead planning and delivery across the generative model, geometry pipeline, and BDG APIs.
- Build out the European BDG team — attract strong computational geometry engineers in the region and grow the team sustainably.
- Partner with PMs early to scope PRDs, surface constraints, and assess feasibility before engineer owners take over delivery.
- Evaluate technical proposals from your team and route them forward — to the Director of Engineering when scoped to your team, or to the ARC when they cut across squads.
- Coordinate with the other BDG EM to keep technical direction, interfaces, and the platform coherent across both teams.
- Shape a clean contract between the building model and Higharc Studio's interaction and rendering systems as its API surface matures.
- Run an async-first, minimal-meeting team with clear ownership and high accountability.
About You
You've spent your career deep in computational geometry and CAD — enough to evaluate technical proposals on your team and guide engineers through hard problems even when you're not writing the code yourself. You think in BReps, boolean ops, and dependency graphs. You've built parametric systems where the model is the source of truth for downstream geometry, drawings, or fabrication outputs, and you know what it takes to keep them robust at scale.
You operate well in a distributed, async-first environment, and you partner with PMs naturally — translating product intent into technical scope, flagging feasibility risks early, and engaging engineers at the right moment. You're intellectually honest about what's hard, surface constraints early instead of overpromising, and use modern AI-assisted development practices to move your team faster.
You have:
- 5+ years in software engineering with significant time in CAD/CAM or computational geometry, and 2+ years managing technically deep engineering teams.
- Deep background in computational geometry (boolean operations, mesh processing, BReps, constraint solving, or related areas).
- Strong expertise in parametric and generative modeling of 2D and 3D geometries — feature-based modeling, history graphs, dependency propagation, and keeping parametric systems robust at scale.
- Experience with platform development and API design for multiple internal (and ideally external) consumers, with attention to versioning, performance, and developer experience.
- Familiarity with geometry kernels — commercial, open-source, or custom-built — and comfort with the trade-offs.
- Fluency in AI-supported software development practices and active use of them in your engineering workflow.
- A delivery track record in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
- Based in a European timezone.
A major plus if you also bring:
- Exposure to AEC or homebuilding software
