About the role
We're looking for a Staff Product Designer (IC7) to help shape how millions of customers experience Nubank's products. This is a highly strategic role at the intersection of craft excellence, systems thinking, and cross-functional influence — someone who thrives on ambiguity, connects dots across teams, and consistently raises the bar for what "well-designed" means at scale.
You'll operate with high autonomy, taking on our most complex and strategic problem spaces, and you'll be expected to not just solve them, but to make the people around you better designers in the process.
What you'll do
- Lead end-to-end design for highly complex, ambiguous problem spaces that span multiple teams, products, or business units.
- Design solutions that scale globally, balancing consistent standards with the flexibility needed for different markets and contexts.
- Raise the craft bar across visual design, interaction, and motion — setting a standard that inspires other designers and elevates the quality of what we ship.
- Know your area's roadmap deeply enough to anticipate technical and business implications, proactively suggesting the right solutions — and troubleshoot real business challenges as they come up.
- Partner closely with engineering to ensure design integrity holds from concept to production, auditing and guiding teams when needed.
- Challenge and evolve our design system guidelines to support complex, cross-product functionality, and champion true accessibility — not just technical compliance.
- Use AI and automation thoughtfully to accelerate design workflows, generate insight, and speed up decision-making — while staying alert to ethical, IP, and user-trust implications.
- Drive alignment across teams and senior stakeholders, simplifying complex spaces so others can make faster, clearer decisions.
- Mentor and support other designers, contributing hands-on to hiring and to the growth of the Design function.
What we look for
- Proven experience operating at a Staff (or equivalent) level in Product Design, with a track record of owning complex, ambiguous initiatives independently.
- Deep expertise in your domain — the kind that makes other designers and cross-functional partners seek you out for guidance.
- Strong craft: your visual, interaction, and prototyping work should speak for itself.
- Experience partnering with engineering on technically sustainable, production-ready solutions.
- A track record of influencing beyond your immediate team — across design, product, engineering, and senior stakeholders.
- Comfort using AI tools as part of your design process, with clear judgment about when human-led work is essential.
Where you'll work
This is a hybrid role, based out of one of our hubs: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Campinas, or Belo Horizonte.
Our recruitment process may involve the use of artificial intelligence–enabled tools, such as automated interview transcription and analysis, to support the evaluation process. Artificial intelligence is not used to make final hiring decisions; all decisions are made by human reviewers.
