About the Role

Bring your field service and technical troubleshooting expertise to the development and evaluation of next-generation AI systems.

As a Senior Field Service Technician, you will apply real-world experience diagnosing complex equipment and industrial systems, interpreting technical documentation, analyzing controls, and identifying root causes. Your expertise will help AI systems develop a more accurate understanding of technical diagnostics, maintenance, safety requirements, and repair strategies.

No prior AI experience is required. Your technical domain expertise is what matters.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

• Review and interpret complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, hydraulic diagrams, and pneumatic layouts.

• Diagnose equipment faults and performance issues using technical documentation and established troubleshooting methods.

• Analyze fault pathways and identify likely root causes of operational issues.

• Provide evidence-based recommendations for corrective action.

• Apply practical maintenance, service, and repair knowledge to real-world technical scenarios.

Industrial Controls & PLC Analysis

• Analyze PLC logic and industrial control systems to identify operational issues.

• Apply knowledge of industrial controls and fault-finding processes to technical scenarios.

• Assess relationships between control systems, equipment behavior, and identified faults.

Technical Documentation & AI Evaluation

• Document troubleshooting approaches, findings, diagnostic reasoning, and corrective actions clearly and accurately.

• Translate complex technical diagnostics into structured written explanations suitable for diverse audiences.

• Provide expert commentary and insights based on extensive hands-on field experience.

• Contribute practical technical knowledge to AI training and evaluation workflows.

Codes, Safety & Compliance

• Evaluate technical scenarios against applicable U.S. codes and safety requirements.

• Identify relevant requirements associated with NFPA 70, NFPA 79, ASME A17.1, and OSHA.

• Highlight code-specific considerations based on real-world project scenarios.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of hands-on troubleshooting experience in one or more relevant technical environments, including:

  • Industrial equipment

  • HVAC

  • Elevators

  • Hydraulic systems

  • Heavy vehicles/equipment

  • Marine systems

  • Rail systems

  • Utilities

  • Telecom equipment

• Advanced ability to read and interpret:

  • Electrical schematics

  • Wiring diagrams

  • Hydraulic diagrams

  • Pneumatic layouts

• Strong knowledge of PLC programming and industrial controls.

• Proven ability to diagnose complex equipment faults and determine root causes.

• Strong working knowledge of applicable U.S. safety and operational codes, including NFPA 70/79, ASME A17.1, and OSHA.

• Ability to analyze complex technical information and develop evidence-based solutions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to clearly explain complex diagnostic reasoning to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy.

• Ability to work independently and provide high-quality technical documentation remotely.

Preferred Experience

• Experience authoring technical service reports, troubleshooting documentation, or service instructions.
