Director, Product Management – Core Data and Decision Intelligence

Target in India | L7

About Us

As a Fortune 50 company with more than 400,000 team members worldwide, Target is an iconic brand and one of America’s leading retailers.

Working at Target means the opportunity to help all families discover the joy of everyday life. Caring for our communities is woven into who we are, and we invest in the places we collectively live, work and play. We prioritize relationships, fuel and develop talent by creating growth opportunities, and succeed as one Target team. At our core, our purpose is ingrained in who we are, what we value, and how we work. It’s how we care, grow, and win together.

Target is investing in the next generation of intelligent store experiences that connect operational, digital and physical environments to create smarter outcomes for guests, team members and the business.

Our Core Intelligence Product teams are building the foundational capabilities that enable Target’s stores to understand what is happening, anticipate what matters, recommend the right actions, and continuously learn from outcomes.

About the Job – Director, Product Management, Core Data and Decision Intelligence

As Director of Product Management for Core Intelligence, you will help define and build the intelligence foundation powering the future of Target’s store operations and experiences.

You will lead a portfolio of highly technical products that bring together signals from operational systems, store environments and enterprise platforms; transform those signals into trusted context; and use data science, AI and intelligent systems to generate actionable recommendations at scale.

Your work will enable Target to move beyond static rules and fragmented signals toward context-aware, continuously learning intelligence that can power multiple Store products, workflows and experiences.

Based in Target in India, you will lead Product Managers and partner deeply with Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML, UX, Store Operations and experience Product teams to identify high-value problems, develop reusable intelligence capabilities and translate technology investments into measurable outcomes for Target’s stores.

Intelligence Product Vision & Strategy

  • Define and execute the product vision and strategy for a portfolio of foundational Core Intelligence capabilities.
  • Shape how operational and physical signals are transformed into trusted context, insights and recommendations that power Store experiences.
  • Build scalable, reusable intelligence capabilities that can serve multiple products, workflows and operational domains.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI/ML, predictive intelligence, recommendation systems, simulation and emerging technologies to solve complex Store problems.
  • Translate enterprise and Stores priorities into clear product strategies, investment choices, roadmaps and measurable outcomes.
  • Balance near-term business value with development of durable intelligence capabilities that can scale across Target.

Product Discovery & Intelligence Capability Development

  • Develop a deep understanding of Target’s store operating environment and identify opportunities where intelligence can meaningfully improve decisions and experiences.
  • Establish strong discovery mechanisms across Product, Engineering, Data Science, UX and Operations to move from problems to hypotheses, experiments and scalable solutions.
  • Drive rapid experimentation, simulation and learning to validate opportunities before scaling investments.
  • Build feedback loops that allow intelligence capabilities to learn from outcomes and improve over time.
  • Ensure intelligence products are designed for trust, explainability, interoperability, scalability and long-term extensibility.

Product & Organizational Leadership

  • Lead and develop Product Managers across a portfolio of highly technical intelligence products.
  • Create clear product ownership, accountability, success metrics and decision rights across the portfolio.
  • Build a strong Product organization in Target in India with deep technical, strategic and business acumen.
  • Coach Product Managers to lead through customer problems, discovery, evidence and outcomes rather than requirements and delivery.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, curiosity, ownership and continuous learning.
  • Establish product operating mechanisms that enable empowered teams while maintaining alignment across a complex ecosystem.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence

  • Build strong partnerships across Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML, UX, Store Operations and experience Product teams.
  • Influence senior leaders and partners across geographies without relying on direct authority.
  • Translate complex technical and intelligence concepts into clear product and business narratives.
  • Navigate ambiguity and competing priorities to create alignment around strategic investments.
  • Help establish clear boundaries and interfaces between reusable Core Intelligence capabilities and the experiences they power.

About You

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree in technology, engineering, data science, business or a related field is a plus.
  • 8+ years of Product Management experience, preferably across highly technical, data-intensive, AI/ML, platform or enterprise products.
  • Demonstrated experience defining product strategy and leading complex product portfolios.
  • Experience leading and developing Product Managers.
  • Strong understanding of data-driven products, AI/ML concepts, recommendation systems, intelligent platforms or related technology domains.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technology into customer and business outcomes.
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to connect multiple capabilities into a coherent product strategy.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influence skills.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and solving problems where neither the solution nor the path is obvious.
  • Experience working across global Product and Engineering organizations is strongly preferred.
