Two things separate these boards, and neither is the number on the homepage. The first is how much of the inventory a non-paying visitor can see — one of the best-known names here shows you 0.4% of it. The second is whether "remote" means remote-from-India or remote-within-the-United-States, which most boards will not tell you until you open the listing.

- Volume. Its categories are broad and its listing pace is modest next to the aggregators, so it rewards checking often rather than searching deeply.

- Good. A senior developer listing we opened named 50+ eligible countries including India, and many postings are tagged "Anywhere in the World" — though some carry an explicit United States only lock.
- Worth knowing
- The header carries a cumulative counter — 41,378 jobs posted — and individual categories show their own live counts, so you can gauge the board’s depth without registering.

- Price
- Remote OK Premium is $14.95 a month on a twelve-month commitment billed monthly, which adds early access, salary and timezone filters, alerts and ad-free browsing.
- Best for
- Filtering by salary before you apply, which almost no other board on this page supports properly.
- Not for
- Trusting the location tag alone. We found listings tagged worldwide alongside hard locks such as a requirement to currently reside in Australia, so the tag is a starting point, not a guarantee.
- From India
- Real. We saw genuine India-based postings — including roles in Nagpur and in Guindy and Dharmavaram — alongside worldwide tags and an Asia regional filter.
- Worth knowing
- The open-salary display is the reason to use it: you can see the number before deciding whether the application is worth an evening.

- Himalayas Plus is $9 a month and Max is $29 a month. Both buy AI tooling — unlimited resumes and cover letters, AI headshots, voice interview practice — not access to jobs.
- Best for
- Volume with tooling attached, if you want alerts and application help in one place for nothing.
- Not for
- Precision. Its India filter returned 102,918 jobs against an unfiltered 102,876 — a filter that widens the result set is not filtering, so treat the country selector as decorative and read each listing.
- From India
- A country filter exists but, on the evidence above, does not appear to narrow anything. Individual listings do carry hard restrictions such as United States only.
- Worth knowing
- The paid tiers sell AI tools rather than job access, which is a more honest structure than charging for the listings themselves. Everything that matters to a jobseeker stays free.

- Not verified. The "Go Premium" upgrade shows no figure on the pages we could read.
- Best for
- Non-engineering remote work. Its category spread is wider than the developer-first boards here.
- Not for
- Anyone who wants to know what premium buys. Neither the price nor the feature gate is disclosed, so you are asked to upgrade blind.
- From India
- Good — India appears as a named country option alongside regional groupings including APAC, so the filter is real rather than cosmetic.
- Worth knowing
- It states its scope in one line — 100% fully remote jobs worldwide — and its counter says 30K+ remote jobs updated daily. No hybrid roles smuggled in under a remote tag.

- India-based search, on the evidence we could gather. Its homepage lists only US cities, and the India location page returned HTTP 403 to every request we made, so we cannot confirm the Indian inventory.

- Unverified. An India location page appears to exist but we could not open it, and nothing on the pages we could read points at India.
- Worth knowing
- It publishes its own scale — 27,000+ startups hiring, 10M+ candidates — and shows compensation and equity ranges on listings, which is the reason it remains worth checking despite the geography question.

- Free to join and apply — you build a profile and are matched, with no candidate fee found anywhere.

- Best for
- Earning US rates from India without emigrating, which is a genuinely different proposition from a job board.
- Not for
- Browsing. There is no inventory to search; you enter a vetting process and wait to be matched, which suits some people and frustrates others.
- From India
- Indirect but real. Neither page we read names India, but the model — remote developers, strong English required, tax depending on country of residence — is built for exactly this case.
- Worth knowing
- It has quietly diversified: alongside the developer marketplace, its homepage now pitches Turing Talents, placing specialists with AI companies to evaluate and improve language models. That is a live, well-paid category most Indian engineers have not looked at.

- Reading every listing. Curation means a short list you can actually get through, which is the opposite of the aggregator experience.

- Anyone applying from India specifically. India was not among the location tags we saw, and there is no published job count at all, so you cannot gauge the board’s size before investing time in it.
- From India
- Weak on the evidence available. Worldwide tags exist, but the named location tags we saw were the US, Canada and the UK.
- Worth knowing
- It states plainly that it curates rather than aggregates. Whether that is worth the smaller pool depends entirely on how much of your time the aggregators currently waste.

- India-based searching, probably. Its named country list — Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, the UK, the US, Vietnam and 25+ others — does not mention India, and it promotes a sibling site explicitly for US residents only.

- Unclear. India is not among the countries named on the site, and the "25+ others" leaves it genuinely ambiguous.
- Worth knowing
- The Power Search pitch is a specific claim — roughly 2,000 hidden remote roles that do not reach the public board — rather than the usual promise of better filtering. Specific claims are at least testable.

- Nothing, unless you pay. The index is large and the India page is real; the free experience is a sample.
- Not for
- Anyone who found it on a list of free remote job boards, which is most of the internet. It is a paid product with a demonstration attached, and it should be described that way.
- From India
- It runs a dedicated India page which showed 15,016 matching remote jobs, so the inventory genuinely exists — you just cannot see it without paying.
- Worth knowing
- The 0.4% figure is Remotive’s own, printed on its own page. Credit where it is due: that is a far more honest paywall disclosure than the industry norm of letting you discover the limit by hitting it.

- A 14-day trial at $2.95 which auto-renews at $23.95 every four weeks; a 3-month plan at $9.95 a month charged $29.85 up front; an annual plan at $5.95 a month charged $71.40 up front. All carry a 14-day money-back guarantee.
- Best for
- People who have been burned by fake remote listings and want somebody else doing the screening.
- Not for
- Indian applicants, as far as we can tell. Its homepage would not load for us across four attempts, so we cannot confirm it carries meaningful India-open inventory — and it is the one board here that asks you to pay before finding out.
- From India
- Unverified, which is a serious problem for a paid product. Budget roughly ₹2,000 a month at the renewal rate.
- Worth knowing
- The trial mechanics are the thing to notice: $2.95 for fourteen days, then $23.95 every four weeks. That is an eightfold step up, and it is the reason to set a calendar reminder on the day you sign up.

What we checked
- — Each board was opened on the date shown, along with its pricing page where it has one, and we recorded specifically what a signed-out visitor can see.
- — India availability was checked by looking for a country filter and by reading the location tags on actual listings, not by trusting the homepage copy.
- — Job counts are quoted only where the board displays them itself, verbatim. Where two of a board’s own pages disagreed, we say so rather than picking the flattering number.
- — Several of these boards return HTTP 403 to an automated request. Where that happened we read the same pages through a text-rendering proxy and the entry says so; nothing here is taken from a search-engine summary.
- — We paid for no subscription, so paid-tier inventory claims are the vendor’s.
What we could not verify
- — Remotive’s price. Its own support article states pricing depends on the plan and varies by country, and that you must click through to see a personalised figure. No fixed number is published, so we do not have one.
- — Remote OK’s total inventory. No sitewide count appeared on any page we could read, and two search-engine summaries gave two different figures a thousand apart, which is reason enough to trust neither.
- — FlexJobs’ India coverage. Its homepage never loaded across four attempts, so although we could read the pricing page, we cannot confirm it carries meaningful India-open listings.
- — Wellfound’s India page. wellfound.com/location/india appears to exist but returned HTTP 403 every time, so its Indian inventory is unverified. Its homepage lists only US cities.
- — Working Nomads’ premium price, and whether JustRemote’s "25+ others" country list includes India — neither is stated on the pages we could read.

enforced in code, not just promised: the sponsored-host list our link pipeline checks

Can I get a remote job from India on these sites?
On some. We Work Remotely names eligible countries on the listing and we saw one open to 50+ including India; Remote OK carries genuine India-based postings and an Asia filter; Working Nomads has India as a named country option. Wellfound, Jobspresso and JustRemote showed us no India coverage we could confirm, and FlexJobs would not load at all. Always read the listing’s own location line — a worldwide tag is frequently contradicted three paragraphs down.
Is FlexJobs worth paying for?
Only if the scam-screening is worth $23.95 every four weeks to you, which is what the $2.95 trial becomes after fourteen days. The vetting is genuine and the frustration it removes is real. But we could not verify that it carries India-open inventory, and paying before you can check is a bad trade from here.
Why do remote jobs say worldwide and then reject Indian applicants?
Because "remote" describes where the work happens and not who may be employed to do it. Payroll, tax residency and data-compliance rules mean a company can genuinely want anyone and still only be able to hire in a handful of countries. The boards that tag eligible countries at listing level — We Work Remotely and Remote OK — save you the most time.
What is the difference between a remote job board and a marketplace like Turing?
On a board you find listings and apply. On a marketplace you are vetted once and then matched, so there is nothing to browse and the wait is out of your hands. Marketplaces suit people who interview well and dislike applying; boards suit people who want to see the inventory and decide for themselves.
