- Running several tailored versions. The free plan is built around one resume slot, so if your strategy is a different file for every application you will hit the wall quickly.

- No INR pricing was visible, but the free plan is the product for most people and costs nothing anywhere.
- Worth knowing
- It says "unlimited downloads" and then repeats it as "no download limits" — a builder being that explicit about the export is itself the signal, because the whole category makes money on ambiguity here.

- Worth knowing
- The score is a parse score, not a beauty score: it tells you whether the machine can read your work history before a recruiter ever sees it.

- Free ₹0 a month. Student ₹241 a month or ₹2,419 a year; Standard ₹549 a month or ₹5,059 a year; Pro ₹1,099 a month or ₹10,559 a year. A discount banner was showing when we checked, so treat these as promotional.
- Best for
- Engineers, researchers and anyone who wants typography that no drag-and-drop builder will match, plus a source file they keep.
- Not for
- Anyone in a hurry or unwilling to learn markup. The first LaTeX resume takes an evening, and a broken compile at 11pm before a deadline is a genuinely bad experience.
- From India
- Served INR pricing directly, and the free tier is enough for a CV, so the paid plans are only relevant for collaboration and longer compiles.
- Worth knowing
- The free plan lists a "basic compile timeout" rather than blocking compiles, which is the detail that makes free LaTeX resumes viable — the limit is patience, not permission.

- Someone who wants a phrase bank to get unstuck — it advertises 20,000 pre-written phrases across more than 3,200 jobs.
- Not for
- Anyone who needs the good templates free. Four basic templates is a deliberately thin free tier, and the advanced customisation is exactly what the subscription is for.
- From India
- USD pricing with no INR tier seen, though at $38.40 for a year it is the cheapest annual plan here by a distance.
- Worth knowing
- The phrase library is organised by job title rather than by section, which is far more useful than a generic action-verb list when you are staring at an empty bullet point.

- Worth knowing
- It publishes an exact user count — 4,510,834 at the time of checking — rather than a rounded marketing figure, which is a small but real sign of a team that measures things.

- Best for
- Freshers, who should be on one page anyway, and who therefore lose nothing to the free tier’s biggest restriction.
- Not for
- Anyone with more than a few years of experience. The one-page cap on the free plan is a structural limit, not a nag screen, and at ₹1,299 a month the fix is not cheap.
- From India
- INR pricing shown directly. The quarterly plan at ₹2,499 is the sensible unit if you are job-hunting for a season.
- Worth knowing
- The free-versus-premium difference is stated plainly in its FAQ — you can download from a Basic account, you just cannot download a document that uses Premium features. That is more honest than most of this category manages.

- All templates, basic sections, a maximum of twelve section items, and Enhancv branding on the output. Downloads work for seven days; after that, exporting requires the paid plan although the builder keeps working.
- Price
- Not verified. Its pricing page displayed broken placeholder values — "€NaN" and "€000/mo" — on every attempt, so no real figure could be read.
- Best for
- Roles where the resume is judged by a human on sight: design, marketing, front-of-house, anything client-facing.
- Not for
- Anyone who might need to re-export in a month. The seven-day download window is the sharpest cliff on this page, and your resume is stranded inside the builder after it closes.
- From India
- The pricing page defaulted to euros for us, with no INR tier visible.
- Worth knowing
- It publishes a monthly figure — 28,452 users landed interviews last month — which is specific enough to be checkable over time, unlike the usual cumulative totals.

- Best for
- Someone who wants a polished document this week and is fine paying ₹249 for it, which is a reasonable trade if you actually cancel.
- Not for
- Anyone treating it as free. A plain-text export is not a resume, and the site does not make that limitation obvious until you reach the download step.
- From India
- INR pricing served directly, and ₹249 for a week is the lowest entry price in this list — the catch is that a week is short.
- Worth knowing
- The pricing page states the free plan downloads "only in TXT format" in those words. Worth reading before you spend an hour in the editor.

What we checked
- — Each builder was opened along with its pricing page on the date shown, and the single fact we hunted for was what the free plan is permitted to download.
- — Prices are transcribed exactly as displayed to a request originating in India. Three sites served INR directly — Resume.io, Novoresume and Overleaf — so those are real Indian prices rather than conversions.
- — Where a page rendered its own prices as broken placeholders or would not load, we say so on the entry instead of substituting a number from elsewhere.
- — We did not buy any plan, so paid-tier feature lists are the vendor’s description, not our testing.
What we could not verify
- — Zety could not be checked at all. Five attempts across three of its URLs timed out with no content. It is the builder most often cited as the textbook paywalled-PDF case, and we cannot confirm that first-hand, so it is not on the list.
- — Canva returned HTTP 403 to every request, so its resume templates are also absent. That is a fetch failure, not a judgement.
- — Enhancv’s own pricing page rendered its figures as "€NaN" and "€000/mo" on every attempt — a real bug on their side, not ours — so we cannot quote its price.
- — FlowCV’s paid tiers live on a separate app subdomain we could not reach, so only its free plan is documented here.
- — Overleaf’s INR figures carried a discount banner at the time of checking, so treat them as promotional rather than as the standing price.
- — Kickresume’s free plan says "unlimited downloads" without naming the file format on that line, so we cannot confirm that free downloads are PDFs.

Everything else here limits the export: Rezi gives three PDFs total, Enhancv gives seven days, and Resume.io gives you a text file.
Do free resume builders let you download a PDF?
Sometimes, and it is the single thing to check before you start writing. Of the eight builders here, two allow a free PDF without qualification, one caps it at three files, one closes the window after seven days, and one downgrades you to plain text. The build experience is nearly identical across all of them; the export policy is where they differ.
Are AI resume builders safe to use for ATS screening?
The AI is not the risk — the layout is. Applicant tracking systems fail on multi-column designs, text boxes, tables, icons and images, regardless of who wrote the words. A single-column layout with standard section headings and selectable text parses reliably. That is why our builder scores parse-ability out of 100 rather than rating the design.
How much does a resume builder cost in India?
The three sites that served us Indian pricing directly were Resume.io at ₹249 a week or ₹1,999 a month, Novoresume at ₹1,299 a month or ₹8,499 a year, and Overleaf from ₹241 a month on its student plan. Kickresume’s annual plan works out cheapest overall at about $38 for the year, though it bills in dollars.
Is a LaTeX resume better than a resume builder?
For typography and for keeping control of the file, yes. For getting through a parser, it depends entirely on the template — a two-column LaTeX CV fails an ATS exactly as fast as a two-column drag-and-drop one. Overleaf’s free plan compiles, so the cost is your evening rather than your money.
