About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Patient Financial Services Leader with deep expertise in patient collections, self-pay revenue cycle operations, payment plans, and patient financial engagement.
You will evaluate and improve AI-generated patient financial workflows, communications, and collection strategies while applying your knowledge of revenue recovery, compliance, and patient financial advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead patient collections and self-pay operations, including early-out collections, bad debt management, and payment plan administration.
- Evaluate AI-generated patient financial communications, payment plan recommendations, and self-pay resolution strategies for accuracy and compliance.
- Develop self-pay collection strategies across the revenue cycle, including pre-service, point-of-service, and post-service collections.
- Manage patient payment plan enrollment, monitoring, and compliance.
- Coordinate with financial counseling, billing, and bad debt recovery teams to improve self-pay revenue capture.
- Monitor key performance indicators, including collection rates, payment plan conversion, bad debt write-offs, and patient satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with FDCPA, HIPAA, applicable state collections laws, and patient financial assistance policies.
- Oversee collection agency and early-out vendor relationships where applicable.
- Annotate AI outputs and provide structured feedback to support AI training datasets.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in patient collections, self-pay revenue cycle, or patient financial services.
- At least 2 years of leadership experience.
- Deep knowledge of self-pay collection workflows, FDCPA compliance, and patient financial engagement.
- Experience managing early-out and bad debt collection programs, including vendor oversight.
- Familiarity with propensity-to-pay tools and patient payment technology.
- Proficiency with EHR and patient collections or billing platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to assess collection strategies and identify issues in AI-generated patient communications.
Preferred Qualifications
- CRCR, CHAM, or similar revenue cycle certification.
- Experience with digital patient payment platforms and text/email-based collections outreach.
- Background in hospital, health system, or physician group patient financial services.
- Familiarity with AI tools and experience evaluating AI-generated financial communications.
- Experience using propensity-to-pay analytics to prioritize collection activities.
